Krasnikov is King of First Day

Wild Card Nicolai Krasnikov was the winner of the first day’s final at Krasnogorsk but his success was not as emphatic as last year at this track.

Hero of the meeting had been young Russian Egor Myshkovets who had ridden unbeaten through the semi finals and looked to be favourite to take the last race. However, after a poor start he fell into the straw bales after clipping the rear wheel of Dmitri Kolkatov whilst challenging for the lead. Krasnikov came from behind to win the restarted final where there were only three finishers after Khomisevitch fell after apparently losing a chain on the last lap.

Newcomers Ove Ledstrum and Manfred Seifter performed well on their debut meeting both reaching the semi final stage.

Three riders finished the day equal on 18 points with former champion Daniil Ivanov missing out on a final place after a poor start in his semi final.
