Koltakov takes his first title


Dmitri Koltakov is the new MOTUL FIM Ice Speedway Gladiators World Champion. Russian secured his title on the first day of the final round in Inzell on Saturday evening winning the final and scoring 20 points.

With a total of 161 points he is now 24 points clear of his nearest rival the former champion Daniil Ivanov and cannot be overtaken. The race for second place also fired up with Ivanov moving into second place ahead of Kononov.

Sweden’s Daniel Henderson impressed with a fine performance which took him to sixth position and his first semi-final place including a win over Harald Simon. Home rider Stefan Pletschacher fell heavily in heat 9 and sustained a shoulder injury. He was taken to hospital for treatment and looks unlikely to take his place in tomorrow’s session.
