KiSS MotorLand for sustainable sport

KiSS MotorLand – Gran Premio Movistar de Aragón de MotoGP promotes sustainable sport
The main aim of this programme is to raise awareness among all the fans of motorcycling worldwide of the need for sustainable sport and reduce the environmental impact of the races through management of waste generated by the public, the paddock and the parking areas. The circuit will also launch a contest on Twitter with the hashtag #KiSSMotorLand.

The most outstanding message highlighting the need for sustainability and respect for the environment will receive a merchandising item signed by the initiative’s standard-bearer Marc Márquez.

The KiSS programme, which is part of the sustainability policy of the Fédération Internationale de Motocyclisme (FIM), will be implemented at the Gran Premio Movistar de Aragón MotoGP thanks to the efforts of the FIM with the support of Dorna, IRTA (International Road-Racing Teams’ Association) and the Government of Aragón and of programme sponsors Urbaser, Diario de Teruel and Coca Cola.

The main thrust of the programme, which has been in preparation for several months now, will be the distribution of a KiSS kit in the form of a small recyclable cotton bag containing an explanatory leaflet, a map with instructions and three rubbish bags in different colours for organic products, paper and plastic.

Altogether, 5’000 kits will be distributed at the entrances of the two main Pelouse areas (Stands 4 and 6), where the largest number of fans is expected to gather. At the entrances to Stands 4 and 6, there will be a stall where the 5’000 bags kits will be handed out between 09h and 14h30.  Thanks to Urbaser, there will be separate rubbish and paper containers for different types of waste in all the stands of MotorLand to enable the fans to dispose of their waste for subsequent recycling.

In the commercial area of Stands 7, there will be a giant screen showing videos of KiSS messages from the MotoGP riders. The giant screens around the circuit will also be projecting messages to raise awareness among the spectators.

The importance of the initiative KiSSMotorLand is reflected in the words of FIM CEO Ignacio Verneda: “Last year, during the Women and Sustainability Conferences, we signed the Declaration of Jerez which reflects our commitment to sustainable sport. In this document, we highlighted the right of every one to enjoy safe, inclusive and clean sport that preserves the rights, dignity and respect of individuals, just as everyone has the right to enjoy nature while respecting the value it represents for mankind. The KiSS programme is part of this effort and represents an ongoing programme for the FIM as it has now been organised in 10 different cities in North America and Europe. This year the MotorLand Circuit will be hosting the programme again with the support of our Ride Green Ambassador Marc Márquez as spokesperson and in cooperation with DORNA, IRTA, the Government of Aragón and the companies that have aligned themselves with our sustainability policy”. MARC MÁRQUEZ, STANDARD-BEARER OF KISSMOTORLANDKiSSMotorLand will have an outstanding standard-bearer in Marc Márquez, who will be demonstrating his commitment to the initiative by wearing its logo on his motorcycle. Asked to express his feelings about the Gran Premio Movistar de Aragón and his role as spokesperson for KiSSMotorLand, Marc Márquez was highly enthusiastic: “We are ready for the race in Aragón at Motorland, a circuit that I like very much and which I enjoy at every turn, especially in the company of all my fans. It is a tradition now for this circuit to organise the KiSSMotorLand project, which I have been supporting from the outset as a Ride Green Ambassador. One of the things I like best about the KiSS programme is interacting with the fans while helping the planet. For that reason, I am asking you to follow the simple advice that will help enormously to reduce the impact of the event. How? It’s really easy. You can do it by sharing your car, using public transport, respecting others, putting your rubbish in the designated places, etc. These are simple actions that can make a big difference. I invite all of you to enjoy the race and to give your support to the KiSS project.”  SUSTAINABLE TRANSPORT: A FREE BUS SERVICE AND PARKING PLACES FOR BICYCLESKiSSMotorLand will also be encouraging the fans to use sustainable transport during the Grand Premio. The fans will again benefit from a bus service linking the circuit with Alcañiz which was used by over 15’000 people last year.  This service, provided by the company Hife, will be free of charge.  During the daytime, this line, which will be working on the Saturday and Sunday of the event, will leave the Alcañis Sports City (next to the bullring) and make several stops: at the el Trillero roundabout (c/ Bartolomé Esteban), the official campsite of MotorLand  and the roundabout of the MotorLand international karting circuit. It will make the same stops on the return trip. The bus service will be operating from 07h to 17h both days, with a frequency of between 5 and 30 minutes, depending on the time of day. In addition, from Friday to Sunday, there will be a night service for all the fans. The bus will run every 30 minutes stopping at: plaza de Joaquín Costa, the roundabout of el Trillero (c/ Bartolomé Esteban), Recinto Ferial (Trades Fair Pavillion), La Estanca (bar La Perca), the official MotorLand camp site, and Valmuel. The night service will operate from Friday 20h to 22h; Saturday, from 00h to 02h, from 04h to 07h and from 19h to 22h; and Sunday from 00h to 02h and 04h to 07h.Finally, on the Saturday, there will be two additional routes from 16h to 19h. The first will link Alcañiz and Valmuel and the second Alcañiz with La Estanca and the camp site of the Recinto Ferial, passing by the Circuit in both cases. As part of this drive to encourage and promote sustainable transport, MotorLand will also provide specific parking areas for bicycles, reserved for fans who opt to use pedal power to make their way to the Gran Premio Movistar de Aragón. KISSMOTORLAND CONTESTFinally, as part of the KiSSMotorLand programme, MotorLand will be launching a contest on Twitter. From Monday 19 September 2016 until the Sunday of the Gran Premio, 25 September (00h), the fans will be invited to share with the hashtag #KiSSMotorLand their messages and photos showing future generations the importance of preserving the environment. The author of the most outstanding message will receive a prize in the form of a merchandising product signed by the initiative’s standard-bearer, Marc Márquez.
