This year, at the 2013 FIM Road Racing Grand Prix World Championship event at the MotorLand circuit in Aragón, special kits will be distributed to spectators on the race Sunday to raise environmental awareness. This project, which is a step forward for the preservation of the environment, has been made possible by the FIM with the support of Dorna, IRTA and Sponsors Urbaser and Coca Cola.
MotorLand Aragón will be implementing for the first time the initiative “KiSS MotorLand - keep it shiny and sustainable” at this 2013 edition of the Gran Premio de Aragón (MotoGP). The main aim of this campaign, which is part of the FIM’s sustainability policy, is to raise awareness among all motorcycling fans worldwide in order to reduce the environmental impact of our races through management of the waste generated by the public, the paddock and the parking areas.
This project has been made possible by the FIM with the support of Dorna, IRTA, the Government of Aragon and Urbaser and Coca Cola as programme Sponsors. After several months of preparation, a “KiSS kit” will be distributed at the event. The kit consists of a small KiSS MotorLand backpack containing a leaflet with a map and some instructions, some gifts from Coca Cola (a T-shirt and a pair of sunglasses) and, most importantly, three rubbish sacks of different colours for organic waste, paper and plastic. A total of 5,000 kits will be produced and distributed at the entrances of the two main “Pelouse” areas (Stand 4 and Stand 6) where the largest number of visitors are expected to congregate.
The kits will be handed out on Sunday 29 September, the last day of the MotoGP, when the greatest number of spectators is expected. At the entrances to Stands 4 and 6, tents will be set up to distribute the 5,000 bags between 09.00 and 14.30 hours. With the assistance of Urbaser, rubbish containers will be set up to collect separately different types of waste in all the MotorLand stands so that fans can throw away their rubbish for subsequent recycling. In the commercial area of Stand 7, there will be a giant screen showing “KiSS” video messages from the MotoGP riders. The giant screens at the circuit will also be showing messages to raise awareness among the spectators.
Enter the “KiSS” contest to win a ticket to the Gran Premio de Aragón 2014
As part of this project, a contest will be launched on Friday 27 September with the hashtag “#KissMotorLand. It will be easy to enter as fans are invited to post their photographs showing good environmental practices during the Aragón Grand Prix via the Instagram given in the tweet to @AragonMotorLand using the hashtag #KissMotorLand. All the photos will be automatically posted to an album on the MotorLand official Facebook page (“Amigos de MotorLand Aragón”) and at the end of the event the best photos will win prizes including tickets for the Gran Premio de Aragón de MotoGP 2014.
At 12.30 on Friday 27 September, there will be a Press Conference at the Circuit Conference Room with the presence of all the parties involved in the project. As it will be held within the Circuit, only press representatives accredited for the Gran Premio event will be able to attend.
