Toni Bou – Repsol Montesa HRC wrapped up his third successive SPEA FIM Indoor Trial World Championship by winning the penultimate event of the 2009 series in Bolzano, Italy late last night. This marked the third victory in this year’s campaign for the twenty-two year old and added to those already gained in Sheffield and more recently in Barcelona. Only in the French city of Marseille was the now triple Indoor crown wearer defeated by Albert Cabestany – Sherco. Despite his tender age, Bou now has five World titles to his name, three Indoor and two Outdoor, and all achieved since joining Montesa back in 2007.
A jubilant Bou explained: “I am delighted both for me and the team, which has done a sensational job. To win my third title with a result like today’s, with just one mark, has been incredible and fantastic. The event seemed easy at first, but gradually it got more difficult, especially the last section, which looked almost impossible. Knowing that I was already World Champion as I went into the final hazard really gave me a boost.”
“I felt a lot of pressure today, as any mistake could have been very costly, as so much was at stake. A short and intensive championship like this one is always very tense because you can’t afford any mistakes. However with three wins in four trials, I think we must be proud of what we have achieved.”
