Road Racing Grand Prix World Champions Jorge Lorenzo (MotoGP), Toni Elías (Moto2) and Marc Márquez (GP 125), Trial World Champions Laia Sanz and Toni Bou and MX3 Motocross World Champion Carlos Campano were congratulated in person by the Spanish monarch for their achievements in winning six World titles in 2010 this Wednesday.
King Don Juan Carlos of Spain welcomed the six Spanish riders to his residence the Zarzuela Palace, where he personally congratulated them in front of an audience which included former rider Ángel Nieto.
After official photographs were taken Don Juan Carlos discussed the accomplishments with them, in the presence of Spanish Secretary for Sport, Jaime Lissavetzky.
Also in attendance at the palace for the event were Sporting General Director Albert Soler, Motorcycling Federation President Joan Moreta, Catalunya Motorcycling Federation President Ángel Viladoms, and Dorna Sports CEO Carmelo Ezpeleta.
Both the King and the Prince of Asturias followed the riders’ respective seasons with great interest - Don Juan Carlos attended the Aragón GP last September whilst Don Felipe took in the season finale at Valencia in November.
