Preview Jordan Baja
FIM Bajas World Cup, round 1

Twenty motorcycles (including two female riders), six quads and two SSVs will take the start of the first Baja of the 2022 season in Jordan.

Rally officials have laid on a total route of 662km around the city of Aqaba on the Red Sea and the tracks will take riders through the magnificent desert of Wadi Rum, classified as a World Heritage Site by UNESCO.

Mohammed Al-Balooshi (KTM) will have his work cut out to defend his two wins at the Jordan Baja, because many of his rivals will be pushing hard to climb on to the top step of the podium. They include local rider Abdullah Abu Aisha (KTM), Qatar-based Australian Martin Chalmers (Yamaha) and Kuwait’s Abdullah Al-Shatti (KTM)…

Two ladies from Israel are taking up the challenge this year: Yael Kadshai (Husqvarna) and Alona Ben-Natan (GasGas).

In the quad category, we find Saudi riders, Haitham Al-Tuwaijri, Hani Al-Noumesi and Faisal Al-Suwayh, who dominated the 2021 Bajas season, riding their Yamahas. They will fight against local rider Seif Al-Zyoud.

Two SSV crews are also registered with Tal and David Galimidi and Roy Bartov and Guy Biton entered in a pair of Can-Ams.

After the riders’ briefing on Wednesday (February 16), at 16.00hrs, administrative and technical checks will take place in the Convention Centre of the Hyatt Regency Aqaba Ayla Resort hotel on Thursday February 17.

The Jordan Baja will then be fought out over two stages of 315.67km and 150.89km, the first running through Wadi Rum and the second located in nearby Wadi Arada in a total route of 661.62km.

Results and information will be available on Sportity code 22FIMWC and on www.jordanbaja.com
