FIM Speedway Under-21 world champion Maciej Janowski makes his senior World Championship debut as the wild card in the FIM Torun Speedway Grand Prix of Poland at the Marian Rose Motoarena on October 6.
The Wroclaw-born racer dons the famous No.16 race jacket for his hotly-anticipated arrival on speedway’s biggest stage in the final round of the 2012 SGP series.
Janowski lifted last year’s Under-21 World Championship at Gniezno in October 2011 after claiming the silver medal in 2010. He is currently second to Danish starlet Michael Jepsen Jensen in this year’s standings with three rounds to race.
He made his FIM Monster Energy Speedway World Cup debut for Poland in July and scored a 15-point maximum as the nation’s junior team clinched the FIM Team Speedway Under-21 World Championship on home shale at Gniezno on September 1.
He races for Tarnow in Poland and Swedish champions Piraterna, riding with close friend and mentor Greg Hancock at both clubs. Current SGP series leader Chris Holder also teams up with Janowski for the Pirates. Janowski also rides for King’s Lynn in the British Elite League.
Brothers Emil and Kamil Pulczynski will also take part in the Torun SGP as track reserves.
Emil lines up at No.17 while Kamil wears No.18. The siblings occupy the reserve berths for Torun, where they race with Holder.
The referee for the meeting is Great Britain’s Craig Ackroyd.
