Janowski is joined in Poland’s biggest speedway event by fellow countrymen Bartosz Zmarzlik, Piotr Pawlicki and wild card Patryk Dudek. All four men have been crowned FIM Speedway Under-21 world champion and are determined to make their mark on the senior stage too.
Like any rider, Magic would love to pick up a dream victory in Poland's national stadium, and he admits he has lofty ambitions for the biggest event on his calendar.
Asked how he rated his victory hopes, he said: “I’m training so hard and I’m focused on this. I’m not coming here to be in the top eight. I’m here to give the best I can for myself and the fans.
“I hope my bikes and I will be in good condition and we will see. But everyone can win. We have the best riders in the world here. Anything can happen.
“There’s nowhere bigger than the PGE Narodowy in Poland, so it’s amazing that we can have an event here. It’s our biggest stadium in our biggest city.
“I’m very happy we can come here and show people speedway. I hope we show people some great speedway and maybe we can create more speedway fans here in Warsaw and around the country.”
Permanent SGP wild card Peter Kildemand was delighted to settle into full-time FIM Speedway Grand Prix life by going top of the World Championship with victory in Slovenia on April 30.
The Esbjerg-born star goes into the PGE Narodowy event on 15 points, holding a one-point lead over Chris Holder at the top of the World Championship. With Jason Doyle on 13, and Tai Woffinden, Greg Hancock, Nicki Pedersen, Maciej Janowski and Antonio Lindback all on 10, PK knows he faces a huge task to defend top spot.
But he admits winning the Slovenian SGP in Krsko was the perfect way to justify his selection as a permanent wild card for 2016.
He said: “Getting the win makes you a little more comfortable. I got the wild card for this year and someone believed in me, so it’s the best way you can start the season really.
“Of course it’s a special feeling to be top of the table. I know the season is going to be long and I am probably not going to stay there, but I’ll do all I can. If I can just get some good points all the way, that’ll be great.
“Going to Warsaw as the leader will be good fun. I had a really, really good night in Krsko. I went there with a rib injury and I wasn’t 100 percent fit.
“I wasn’t comfortable with going there and saying I wanted to win. I just wanted to go and get some good points in the bank. But I ended up getting 15 and the win, which was great.”
The LOTTO Warsaw SGP track has been extended and widened for 2016, and Kildemand, who makes his first appearance at PGE Narodowy, admits it could prove a leveller as the sport’s top stars battle to find the ideal setup.
He said: “Nobody really will really know what the track is like. I think they have changed the shape of it a little bit. It will be a new track for everybody. I really look forward to practice.
“So many tickets have been sold, so it will be amazing to go there and see so many people in the crowd. I really look forward to it.”
