Jan Krivka FIM Honorary Vice-President Jan Krivka passed away last night at the age of 93. Jan Krivka, born on 18 February 1920, joined the Jawa factory in 1942, during the War. However, after several weeks he had to undergo forced labour in Germany, working for Siemens. Immediately after the end of World War II he returned to Jawa, for which he worked until his retirement in the early 80s. He became chief designer of competition motorcycles in the early 50s. His name is listed under 28 patented inventions. Jan Krivka became a member of the FIM Technical Committee in 1954. He was elected Vice- President of this committee as of 1959. He was then elected FIM Vice-President in 1983, and became FIM Honorary Vice-President in 1996 at the Bangkok Congress. He had been awarded the FIM Gold Medal two years earlier at the Kuala Lumpur Congress in 1994. Between 1952 until 1967 he was team manager of the (then) Czechoslovak ISDT Trophy Team which won the International Six Days’ Trial (ISDT) six times under his guidance.
