Italian Trial rider Diego Bosis has passed away

Former FIM Trial World Championship rider Diego Bosis died this morning in Italy. Diego Bosis was among the top Trial riders in the ‘80s and ‘90s, and won the Trial des Nations with the Italian team in 1987.

Born in Bergamo in 1967, Diego Bosis started to ride when he was very young, winning the 50cc Cadet Italian Championship twice, in ‘82 and ‘83. He entered the World Championship in 1984 and reached 14th place. Eighth in 1985 and sixth in 1986, Diego had his best season in 1987, aged 19, when he clinched his first win in a Word Trial event in the United States, becoming the first Italian rider to win in World Trials. He finished the Championship as runner-up to Jordi Tarrès, and just ahead of Thierry Michaud. However, the finest achievement of his career was undoubtedly when he and team-mates Renato Chiaberto, Carlo Franco and Donato Miglio won a victory for Italy in the Trial des Nations in 1987.
Diego also collected several Italian Trial Championship titles. His best rankings in the FIM individual World Championship were another second place in 1990, third place in 1989, 1991 and 1992, and fifth in 1988. He took part in 200 races (the last one in 2006), and claimed nine victories between 1987 and 1994. In the FIM Trial des Nations, he was member of the Italian team that finished second in 1986 1988 and 1989, as well as taking the trophy in 1987.
Diego Bosis worked with the FIM Trial Commission in 2010 and 2011 as section designer for the World Championship events.
