2010 FIM Ice Racing World Championship, Final 1
Togliatti (RUSSIA), stadium “Stroitel” – 06-07.02.2010

The Togliattian stadium “Stroitel” hosted the FIM Ice Racing World Championship Final 1.

At the first February weekend Togliatti gathered the strongest riders from Austria, Germany, Sweden, Finland, Poland, Czech Republic and Holland to fight for the champion’s title with the best Russian riders - the ice racing йlite of this country. Our city is given the honour of holding the event on a worldwide scale and spectators will get a wonderful chance to enjoy a beautiful sport show involving world motor racing stars.

In  2010, the FIM Ice Racing World Championship is being held for the 45th time. For the 1st time this tournament took place in 1966 and the winner was a resident of Ufa – Gabdrahman Kadirov. It was Ufa that since 1966 has held 15 World Championships. Today sports club “Bashkortostan” is named after G. Kadirov and its member – a 25-year old native of Ufa, Nikolay Krasnikov, has been winning the title of a World Champion in the individual event for 5 years in a row and for 6 years in a row – in the team event (as a part of Russia team). His remarkable achievements are still unbeaten by any other Russian or foreign riders. No wonder that Russian sportsmen, Masters of Sport on the international level, Honoured Masters of Sport – many times prize winners and World and European Champions in the individual and team events, are considered world favourites in this kind of sport. Russian racing motorcyclists have become World Champions in the individual event 38 times out of 45 and in the team event - 27 times out of 32, including this year.

Samara region hosted the FIM Ice Racing World Championship Final for the first time. Togliatti only held a WC Qualifying Round in 2009. Among all Russian cities World Championship Finals are more often held in Krasnogorsk (Moscow Region), Saransk (Mordovia), Ufa (Bashkiria). As for the closing finals, they are as a rule held in Berlin (Germany) and Assen (the Netherlands).

This year, all four “Mega-Lada” adult riders are taking part in WC Final – Ivanov brothers (Ivan and Daniil) and Khomitsevitch brothers (Vitali and Dmitri). The bearer of the most titles among them is Vitali Khomitsevitch - World Champion 2003, 5 times World Champion as a part of Russia team, Honoured Master of Sport and also 3 times silver medalist of the Individual Championship. Another Honoured Master of Sport, 30-year old Ivan Ivanov, was twice on the podium of Individual WC as a bronze medalist and won the Team World Champion title as a part of Russia Team twice as well. Their younger brothers, Dmitri Khomitsevitch and Daniil Ivanov, have been winning the titles of Worlds vice-champions in the individual event (in 2008 and 2009 respectively) and Team World Champions as a part of Russia team (2009, 2010).

Here is the Provisional Classification after the first Final (day1 and day2) and once again Nikolaï Krasnikov won the two meetings!
