Inaugural FIM webinar

Earlier this week the FIM conducted its first webinar for its National Federations (seminar conducted over the internet) from its new FIM headquarters in Mies, Switzerland. The inaugural online session was presented by Steve Aeschlimann – FIM Executive Director, Operations and Ignacio Verneda – FIM Chief Executive Officer with the support of Sorin Ursan - FIM IT Manager.

Twenty participants joined the session from Asia, Africa, Europe and North America with Vito Ippolito – FIM President – taking part from Italy. All the participants were able to join the ‘virtual classroom’ via the online system without leaving their normal working environment, hence limiting disruption to their daily routine and being carbon neutral in the case that no kind of additional travel was required.

The hour-long interactive session allowed direct participant involvement and feedback regarding the two main subjects that were covered, those being the harmonisation of FIM riders' licences and a new insurance scheme for them.

Commenting on this initial online session Vito Ippolito said: "This first webinar was a real success. Whilst this technology has been available for some time, it was yet another step forward for the FIM in its ambition to modernise its organisation and working processes. The participants were enthusiastic and have already asked for further webinars on other themes."
