Today with see the inaugural FIM Enduro Vintage Trophy get underway as part of the FIM International Six Days Enduro (ISDE) in Navarra, Spain. No less than sixty-six riders from thirteen different nations from as far afield as Australia and the USA will compete over the next three days to determine the initial winner of this event specifically created for motorcycles of yesteryear.
From noon today the riders will present their vintage machines at technical inspection not only to be verified in the normal way, but also to check their authenticity based on their original year of manufacture. The classes include Classic 72, Classic 76, Classic 81and Evolution 86 – these all being dependent on the age of the bike.
With the formalities completed the riders will then get their first of action later today as they compete in the opening acceleration test that will be conducted on the main tarmac straight at the Circuit of Navarra. This comes ahead of two further days of competition that follows the more usual ISDE format, with tomorrow the Vintage riders following a shorter route to the main event with three special tests, whilst on Sunday they will take part in the familiar closing motocross races.
All looks in place for a great first edition of the FIM Enduro Vintage Trophy.
