In Berlin with the newest tricks

The 2016 NIGHT of the JUMPs will arrive in the German capital one week earlier than usual. On 26/27th of February, riders in the toughest FMX series in the world will fly their 2 and 4 stroke machines through the Berlin Mercedes Benz Arena (formerly o2 World).

Twelve of the world’s best FMX riders from almost every continent will fight for all-important points in the official FIM Freestyle Motocross World Championships. The biggest clash will be between the World Champions of recent years. Maikel Melero from Spain will be on hand to try retain his position as the reigning World Champion. His closest competitor so far, will be the 2013 World Champion and 2015 runner-up, David Rinaldo from France who has returned to 100% from his shoulder injury. To round out the World Champion line-up is Remi Bizouard (FRA) who a three-time World Champion and holds the record for most championships.

For the German crowd, they won’t want to miss the German Wunderkind and 2015 European Championship runner-up, Luc Ackermann.  Even his older brother, Hannes a four-time German FMX champion and winner of NIGHT of the JUMPs Hamburg 2015 will be there to try jump on the podium.  Hannes will also be looking to premiere the Open-Loop Flip on German soil.  Joining the Ackermann brothers to fly the German flag will be the local Berliner, Kai Haase.
The fans of NIGHT of the JUMPs can also expect to see some of the best riders from 2015 season, with the Bronze medallist Rob Adelberg (AUS) returning to Germany, along with reigning European Champion Petr Pilat (CZE) and Brice Izzo from France.

One of the newcomers and rising stars to enter Berlin will be Pat Bowden from Australia. He will try shake up the established field with his huge tricks including the Double Grab Flip and possibly Rock Solid Flip. The crowd favourite Jose “El Loco” Miralles from Spain will complete the field of riders in the FMX competition.

In the Maxxis Highest Air competition, Massimo Bianconcini (ITA) will be looking to score early points in the Championship series against 2015 champion, Jose Miralles.

The new track featuring three landings which was launched in Berlin last year will return in 2016.  With a total of seven ramps, the riders will be able to show more variety in approaching the course and with three quarter-pipes on hand, it will be interesting for the audience to see how the riders will utilise the ramps and open up the new Egg Roll backflip.

The LifeProof Best Whip will also feature a record breaking 10 riders whipping through the Mercedes Benz Arena, while Berlin will also see the return of the Mountain Bike riders who will bring the best of the MTB world to NIGHT of the JUMPs.
