Pramac Racing’s Andrea Iannone set a new official top speed record for the MotoGP™ World Championship on Saturday at the Gran Premio d'Italia TIM, as he flew through the speed trap at 349.6kph in FP3. Squeezing the maximum from his 1000cc Ducati GP14 Iannone therefore officially becomes the fastest rider ever on a MotoGP bike. The Italian rider just eclipsed the previous record for the championship (349.288kph) which was also set at Mugello, by Repsol Honda rider Dani Pedrosa in 2009 - in the FP1 at the Italian circuit. That time by Pedrosa was set on a 800cc machine and was some 6kph quicker than the previous record for a Grand Prix, set by Makoto Tamada on a 990cc Honda at the Shanghai circuit back in 2006.
