Yesterday saw bothers Dan and Jack Peace – Gas Gas create history at the second round of the 2016 FIM Trial World Championship in Motegi, Japan as they won their respectively classes. For the fourth time this season already, sixteen-year-old Jack again took top honours in the Trial125 class to firmly establish himself as the clear favourite to lift the title later in the year. Not wanting to be overshadowed by his younger brother, seventeen-year-old Dan also recorded his maiden victory in the highly competitive Trial2 class as they became the first ever siblings to achieve such a feat.
Whilst this was the first time that brothers have both won on the same day at the same event within the discipline, the FIM Trial World Championship does have a history of having famous brothers competing alongside each other in the series. Alan (aka Sid) and the late Martin Lampkin started the trend and this was then later followed by Fred and Thierry Michaud and the trio from the Lejeune family – Eddy, Eric and Jean-Marie.
Jack now heads the Trial125 class general standings by a comfortable twelve points, whilst Dan finds himself in fifth spot in the Trial2 overall rankings after two rounds and four counting days to date.
