High-voltage action at Russian GP in FIM Freestyle MX World Championship

While footballers contest the European championship in Poland and Ukraine, the NIGHT of the JUMPS freestyle motocross stars will be taking to the air again over Russia; rounds 7 and 8 of the FIM Freestyle MX World Championship get underway in Togliatti‘s Anatolia Stepanova stadium on June15th and 16th. This is the second time that the most extreme freestyle motocross series in the world has guested in Russia. Togliatti debuts for the first time on this year‘s tour schedule and is the venue for the first outdoor competition of 2012.

The summer break is fast approaching but there‘s plenty of dynamite left in store for fans in these two World Championship finals. The Anatolia Stepanova stadium has plenty of room in the infield and constitutes the largest track in the history of NIGHT of the JUMPS; the track building crew estimate that 35 metres should be possible.

The line-up too is certainly thrilling; former world champions Remi Bizouard (FRA) and Libor Podmol (CZE), the two riders best placed to take the 2012 FIM Freestyle MX World Championship, are taking part. The Czech ace will do his utmost to eat into the Frenchman‘s lead and even overtake him. Bizouard for his part will go all out to execute amazing tricks in an effort to dazzle the Russian spectators and build up a substantial points cushion on which to ‘relax’ during the summer break.

Two more French riders, Brice Izzo and David Rinaldo, who are currently third and fourth respectively in the overall standings also form part of the line-up. They too will attack in a bid to gain ground on the two leaders and thus keep their title hopes alive.

German World Championship ambitions rest on the shoulders of Hannes Ackermann. The Thuringian rider could still jump his way into the finals during the last three World Championship rounds and is currently in a strong fifth place, but Massimo Bianconcini is hard on his heels, just three points behind him.

American ace Brody Wilson returns to the World Champonship track for the first time in two years. He should particularly like the huge track and the outdoors, which makes him a prime candidate for a place in the two finals. Jose Miralles also deserves an especial mention. El Loco has been out of action due to injury and makes his NIGHT of the JUMPS comeback in Russia. It will be interesting to see whether his form will once again be good enough for a top spot.

Ivan Zucconi from Italy and Lukas Weis from Germany will also do their best to be top dogs among the group of riders as they pull out all the stops in their repertory of tricks to jump their way into the finals, but they will be up against the Russian riders in particular; Red Bull rider Aleksey Koleshnikov and the two brothers Michael and Vladimir Yarygin represent Russia in the FMX and will certainly enjoy the totally mad and absolute support of their fans and fellow Russians.

The Maxxis High Air and the Race & Style Contest complete the largest and hottest freestyle spectacle that Russia has ever known!
