It is with great sadness that the FIM learnt of the passing away of Ray Wilson, FIM Board of Director Member & FIM Africa President on Saturday 17th June 2017 after a short illness.
Ray’s time with FIM Africa started out as a member of the Cross Country Commission and in 2010 he was appointed Vice-President Sporting. In 2015, he was elected FIM Africa President. His dedication and service have been shown through the various positions he has held within the sport and through his professional life with a motorcycle dealership.
FIM President Vito Ippolito said “It is with great sadness that we have learned of the passing away of Ray Wilson. He contributed so much to motorcycling. His passion and personal dedication as well as his competences, frankness and friendship were greatly appreciated by the entire FIM family. Ray will be missed without any doubt. On behalf of the Board of Directors and the FIM family, I would like to extend to Ray’s wife Julie, to his family and his many friends our deepest sympathy and sincere condolences.”
