On the occasion when Toni Bou – Repsol Honda secured his tenth FIM Trial World Championship to take his tally to twenty individual FIM World titles, there was yet another major medal winner present in the Italian town of Chiampo for the final Trial GP of the 2016 in the form of triple Olympic gold medal holder Ed Clancy.
Having only recently returned from winning his third consecutive Olympic gold medal in the cycling team pursuit in Rio, Clancy who is a huge Trial fan was disappointed to have missed his home Trial GP in Great Britain back in July due to his training regime on the lead up to the games in Brazil. However, he made sure that he did not miss the last round of the series this weekend in Italy.
Combining his Trial GP visit with a short break in the Italian hills with his partner Natali, Clancy who is himself is a four times World Champion was on hand to offer his personal congratulations to Bou during yesterday’s post event press conference. Having now seen Toni in action Ed will look to add to his own Trial skills when he returns to the UK to ride his Gas Gas.
