Ahead of the opening round of the 2016 FIM Women’s Trial World Championship in Great Britain next weekend – two of the main female protagonists have used the occasion of tomorrow’s Belgium Trial GP as part of their final preparation before their season proper gets underway.
Germany’s Theresa Bauml – Beta will line up against Spain's Sandra Gomez – Gas Gas in the international class tomorrow alongside a host of main rivals in conditions that may not prove to be too dissimilar to what they will find in Great Britain in a week’s time. Eighteen-year-old Bauml ranked sixth overall in the final Women’s standings last year and is the leading young rider who is tipped to feature higher up the order in 2016. Three fifth places and two sixth spots during 2015 confirmed Bauml’s consistency and ability and is certainly capable of better things this season.
The more experienced Gomez, now twenty-three years old, missed the final two events last year due to a foot injury after having been predicted to be a serious title challenger. Now back with the Gas Gas team, Sandra will hope her outing in Belgium this weekend will put her in good shape and ready for the initial Women’s encounter proper in just seven days-time.
