After an incredible start to the 2016 Maxxis FIM SuperEnduro World Championship in Lodz, Poland, the series gears up for an exciting round two in Germany. The SachsenArena in Riesa will see KTM's Cody WEBB (USA) look to build on his early championship lead while chasing pack are set to stop his winning ways.
In the Junior class, Germany's Manuel LETTENBICHLER (KTM) will be very much home favorite as he hopes to keep his winning streak alive.
For the second year in a row, the Motorsportverein Riesa and production society "Eventmanufactur” Auerswald, under the power of ADAC, will organise the second round of the SuperEnduro series in their hometown with DMSB delegation (German Motorcycle Federation).

Only a few hours after their first SEWC event on January, 3rd 2015, Eventmanufactur Auerswald and its representative Daniel AUERSWALD, confirmed their place in the 2015-16 season. Remaining unchanged, Riesa's SachsenArena has again been chosen to host the second round of the 2016 SEWC. This arena, with a capacity of 7,000 seats, was open in 2002 and has already hosted many concerts and sporting events.
The city of Riesa is situated in the former East Germany, but more precisely in the region of Saxe. The city of around 34,000 inhabitants, Riesa is the biggest city of Meissen district and borders the banks of Elbe river. It is situated only 90 kms east of Leipzig and 70 kms south-west from Dresden.
With a full rider entry from three continents (Europe, America, Africa) in the two categories, the Grand Prix of Germany will certainly keep the New Year's celebrations alive on January 2nd.
Five-way battle for victory
Winner of the Polish GP (1/6/1), Cody WEBB arrives in Germany leading the series. But what we saw in Lodz reveals that four other riders are extremely capable of fighting for the victory!
Despite WEBB grabbing the limelight, Jonny WALKER (GB – KTM) showed a lot of calm and consistency never seen before (2/2/2). The young Brit is just one point behind WEBB and will look to secure the victory that wasn't far from his grasp in Poland.
Of course, Taddy BLAZUSIAK, despite some crashes in his home round, is still really fast and will really wants to get back on the top step of the podium, while Taylor ROBERT (USA – KTM) and Colton HAAKER (USA – Husqvarna) remain true competitors ready to capitalise on any weakness of their rivals.
If, in addition to these five riders, Alfredo GOMEZ (E – KTM), Paul BOLTON (GB – KTM) and Marion ROMAN (E – Husqvarna) recover their speed from last season, the GP can offer very really explosive night of racing.
Also young guns Ty TREMAINE (USA – KTM) and Andreas LINUSSON (S – KTM) have already shown they are not afraid and are ready to fight with the world's best.
Finally, we'll have to keep an eye on Kornel NEMETH (H – TM), Aurélien ADDESSO (F – Beta), Kevin ROOKSTOOL (USA – Sherco), Martin LARSSON (S – KTM), Eloi SALSENCH (E – Beta), John NYSTROM (S – KTM) and Yannick BOSSI (F – Suzuki) who, if they manage to qualify, will look to play the spoilers and score valuable points.
Same story for local stars Edward HUBNER (D – Sherco). Throw in the comeback of Dani GIBERT (E – Sherco) and more spice is added to the Prestige class.
Can anyone stop Lettenbichler?
In the Under 23-year-old category, Manuel LETTENBICHLER (D – KTM) made a big impression with his dominance in the Atlas Arena. LETTENBICHLER, riding with home advantage, will be pushed by the 7,000 strong crowd in Germany.
But his main rivals Luis OLIVEIRA (P – Yamaha) and Gethin HUMPHREYS (GB – Husqvarna) are ready to fight back and steal some precious points by any means possible to close the gap to the Junior provisional leader.
Lee SEALEY (GB – Yamaha), Blake GUTZEIT (RSA – Husqvarna), Tim APOLLE (D – Husqvarna), Josh GOTTS (GB – TM) and also William HOARE (GB – Sherco) have the weapons to take part in this fight for the win with APOLLE benefitting from an entire crowd cheering for him.
Emil JUSZCZAK (PL – Sherco), Oskar KACZMARCZYK (PL – KTM), Norbert ZSIGOVTIS (H – TM), Gabor FISTOVARI (H – KTM) and also Joffrey MARIN (F – Kawasaki) will give their best too.
After a season opener that saw Cody WEBB sending a clear message to all his rivals, the question asked now is whether he can resist the attacks of WALKER, BLAZUSIAK, ROBERT and HAAKER.
