Gelabert making his mark

Eighteen-year-old Spanish rider Miquel Gelabert – Sherco is certainly making his mark on the 2016 FIM Trial World Championship and will look to continue that trait as he competes in the fifth round of the series held in Lourdes, France starting today. Seventh place last Sunday in Andorra represented the young Spanish rider’s best ever result since moving up to the TrialGP class at the start of this season.

2015 saw Miquel narrowly miss out on winning the FIM Trial World Cup as he came off worst in a last round winner takes all showdown with eventual victor Quentin Carles de Caudemberg – Beta. However far from letting this disappointment effect his progress Gelabert has kicked on since taking his place amongst the more established riders in the elite class.

A consistent run of point scoring finishes in all opening eight counting days to date in the 2016 series sees Gelabert currently hold eleventh place in the general standings with a tally of thirty-four points. With only a few points separating him from eighth spot overall, if Miquel can continue his good run of results he has a real chance of climbing into the top ten in the TrialGP class by the time he leaves the French GP this weekend.
