Gadea records first win

Spain's Sergio Gadea edged a thrilling final lap to secured his first FIM 125cc World Championship victory of the season at Assen on Saturday morning.

The Aprilia rider was in third spot heading into the last lap but took advantage when Nicolas Terol's attempts to overtake leader Julian Simon caused delays for both.

Terol and overall championship leader Simon, who along with Gadea had broken away in the early stages, rejoined the race but were unable to make up the lost ground on their compatriot and crossed the line in second and third.

However, Terol was later given a 20-second penalty for the final-lap incident, demoting him to fifth and handing Bradley Smith of Great Britain a podium finish.
