History will be made this weekend as, for the first time, a Track Racing World Championship will be decided in Argentina when Final 7 of this year’s Under 21 championship takes place on the Bahia Blanca track on Saturday evening.
Although restricted by injuries to some of the top riders, this year’s competition has produced some classic racing and the champion for 2012 will not be known until the final meeting as Denmark’s Michael Jepsen Jensen leads by a slender 3 points over the reigning champion Maciej Jankowski.
The two battled through a run-off at Final 6 on this wide, fast track last week after both had tied on 13 points with the Dane taking the top podium place. Jensen, who has impressed many observers this year and won his maiden Grand Prix in Vojens earlier in the season will be looking to preserve his slight points advantage but Jankowski knows that even the slightest slip by the Danish hope could provide him with the opportunity to hold on to his title. An exciting final is in prospect.
