FIM Surprise visit to SERT / Junior Team Suzuki

Already present at Le Mans for the French MotoGP event, Jorge Viegas - President of the Fédération Internationale de Motocyclisme (FIM) and Franck Vayssié - Director of the Circuit Racing Commission took the opportunity to visit to the FIM Endurance World Champions based at Sarthois.

At the proposal of Claude Michy, promoter of the French Grand Prix, the FIM representatives crossed the road that separates the Bugatti circuit from the ‘Technoparc des 24 Heures’ to meet and greet the FIM Endurance World Champions - SERT - in the building they now share with the Junior Team - Le Mans Sud high school following their recent move to this facility.

The students, although surprised and delighted to meet the FIM President and the Director of the Circuit Racing Commission, were able to explain and share their young experiences in the world of motorcycle sport.

“Motorcycling is a big family and I have come to congratulate you on your 2020 title, but also on the project you have been leading for all these years. Passing on your knowledge to these young students is unique” Jorge Viegas told them during his workshop visit.

The FIM President’s words touched the heart of Damien Saulnier (team manager), a worthy successor of Dominique Méliand, who himself paid tribute to the performances of SERT: “The 2020 world title is the start of a long series” predicted the “chef”, who was the origin of this forty-year-old adventure. Who knows, some of these young apprentice mechanics, will one day find themselves integrated into teams committed to MotoGP, like some of their elders at Tech3. "

Franck Vayssié who was really happy to be part of this visit said: "I have known Damien Saulnier for many years and I must say that he does honour to Dominique's succession. It was very moving for us to meet the competition mechanics of tomorrow who work with dedication and passion and who often work in the shadows. "

It was with great pleasure that Damien Saulnier was able to introduce the new structure for the SERT and show what the training of the Junior Team Suzuki Le Mans Sud mechanics looks like.

"A big thank you to you President Viegas and to Frank Vayssié for visiting us, for discussing motorcycle racing and in particular the integration of young people into the world of motor sports."
