2021 FIM Speedway Under 21 World Championship
Final 2. Krosno, Poland 25th September
The second final of the 2021 FIM Speedway Under 21 World Championship takes place in Krosno, Poland on Saturday with Denmark’s Mads Hansen holding a two point lead in the series. The fast 398m track will suit the following Poles Jakub Miśkowiak and Wiktor Lampart and the local fans will be giving them a lot of vocal support to boost their chances.
Leading scorers after final 1:
Mads Hansen (Denmark) 20 points
Jakub Miskowiak (Poland) 18
Wiktor Lampart (Poland) 16
Norik Blödorn (Germany) 14 (Wild Card)
Francis Gusts (Latvia) 12
Alexander Woentin (Sweden) 11
Mark Karion (MFR) 10
Several of Saturdays competitors raced in last weekend’s Speedway of Nations qualifier in Daugavpils which saw Francis Gusts help his Latvian team through to the Final next month and Mads Hansen and Jakub Miśkowiak both helped their respective teams through. Mark Karion’s efforts failed to see his MFR team qualify.
Wild Card for the meeting will be Mateusz Cierniak one of the crop of promising youngsters that Poland continue to produce. Cierniak already holds an FIM gold medal won with his national team in the Under 221 Team Championship recently and his Ekstraliga experience with Lublin will be to his chances of upsetting the leaders.
Jan Kvech collected a hand injury during the opening round in Straslund and will hope to make a satisfactory return here. The Czech has a huge job to climb into a medal position in the remaining two events, but his determination should still make him a strong contender.
German Junior Champion Lukas Bauman scored only six points in Final 1 and his lack of experience on Polish tracks may be reflected in his result here.
Alexander Woentin, a surprise omission from the Swedish side in the SoN qualifier was a semi-finalist in Straslund but has had mixed results in his Polish league outings with Tarnow. Similarly Aussie Matthew Gilmore needs to find some more speed to compensate for his need for more regular track outings.
