FIM S1 World Title to be decided this weekend in Salou-Port Aventura

The 2010 FIM SuperMoto World Championship is getting to its end and the Grand Prix of Catalunya in Salou-Port Aventura (Spain) will host one of the most dramatic endings of the series. Teammates Thomas Chareyre and Davide Gozini arrive in the Catalan street circuit being first and second respectively level in points in the Championship standings.

Other Superirders like Thierry Van Den Bosch, Mauno Hermunen, Ivan Lazzarini and Bernd Hiemer, who are third, fourth, fifth and sixth respectively, will also have their last chance to obtained the 2010 FIM SuperMoto World Championship as their difference with the top two classified is less than the 75 points at stake.

While Lukas Höllbacher obtained the UEM S3 European Title in Triscina, the UEM Open series is still to be decided. Uros Nastran is the clear dominant with 59 points advantage over the second classified Fabrizio Bartolini, and Teo Monticelli is third with 68 points behind the red plate holder and he also has his last opportunity to obtain the Title.

747 Motorsport TM Racing Factory's Thomas Chareyre regained the red plate at the previous Grand Prix in Pleven, Bulgaria. The French was second overall with five points advantage over his teammate Gozzini who could only finish third. With such result, Thomas Chareyre took back the leadership from the Italian, being both tight in points in the standings of the Championship. So far, Thomas Chareyre has led 43 laps and got two superpoles and his teammate Gozzini has just led 22 laps and did not win any Superpole. However, the previous Grand Prix's are over and what really matters is what is going to happen this weekend in Salou-Port Aventura.

Other 747 Motorsport TM Racing Factory rider Gozzini will race this weekend to obtain his maiden FIM SuperMoto World Championship although he will not have the red plate on his bike. This season Gozzini has obtained one Grand Prix victory as well as his teammate Thomas Chareyre, they have both won four heats and they have been on the podium the same number of times. So both TM riders are aware of the equality among them and they will race for the victory with no team strategies at all.

2009 FIM S1 World Champion Van Den Bosch is third in the Championship with 35 points difference with Thomas Chareyre and Gozzini, but his eight years of experience racing Grand Prix's might help him this weekend to revalidate the Title. PMR H2O Aprilia Racing's Van Den Bosch was fifth overall in Bulgaria, but after the superb weekend in Cahors during the FIM SuperMoto of Nations, the French proved that he recovered the good feelings with his Aprilia machine and he is ready for an overall victory.

Husqvarna CH Racing Team's Hermunen lands in Spain after obtaining his maiden Grand Prix in Pleven, Bulgaria. The Finish is third in the standings of the Championship, 42 points away from the top two leaders, but he will fight until the last chequered flag to try to be proclaimed the 2010 World Champion although he knows that it is not going to be an easy challenge.

HM Honda Racing's Lazzarini is the fifth classified in the Championship and he is also another candidate to obtain the World Title as his difference with the leaders is of 67 points. The Italian has not been very regular this season and his second overall position in Sankt Wendel is his best result so far. However, Lazzarini will do his best to at least finish among the top three riders of the Championship.

German Hiemer is sixth in the point standings and mathematically he is another Superider to be able to go out with the Title. The German has been struggling with the settings of his KTM machine during the whole season, so he is looking forward to this last Grand Prix to finish with a better feeling on his bike and ride again among the top Superiders of the series.

Seventh in the Championship is Adrien Chareyre, who seems to be fully fit and confident again with his riding, after his fourth overall position obtained in the last Grand Prix in Bulgaria. Italian Ravaglia is eighth at the moment, followed by his compatriots Bussei and Sammartin.
