Following the final round of the 2025 FIM Motocross World Championship (MXGP) held in Darwin - Australia, where the FIM President Jorge Viegas presented the gold medal to the winners of the different classes and crowned them 2025 World Champions, he took the opportunity to visit East-Timor.
He was received by the President of the Motorcycling Federation of East Timor (Federação de Motociclismo de Timor Leste - FMCTL) Mr. Longuinhos Monteiro who had the chance to present various activities in motorcycle sport and mobility undertaken by the FMCTL, notably in motocross and road safety.
Later the FIM President was received by the East Timor President, Mr. José Ramos-Horta, winner of the Nobel Peace Prize in 1996, they had the chance to discuss opportunities for future development of motorcycle sport and the current situation of motorcyclists in the country.
The meeting concluded the two days visit with the parties committed to the FMCTL joining the FIM as affiliated member in 2026.
