After a loud countdown by the crowd followed by the swelling roar of a big bore motorcycle, FIM President Vito Ippolito officially opened the MOTORbeurs (fair) in Utrecht last 17 February.
During this ceremony, KNMV Director Patrice Assendelft also unveiled the new KNMV logo and the course the Dutch Federation will be taking in the future . Mr Dennis van der Geest, former Heavy Weight Judo World Champion and also an avid motorcyclist was also introduced as the new KNMV ambassador.
This year's Utrecht MOTORbeurs was quite impressive and included all 2010 models from the different manufacturers on exhibition in Hall 12. From 18 to 21 February, ten thousands of fans visited the fair and shared their passion for motorcycles and everything related to them ranging from second hand motorcycles, clothing, special parts and touring (trips and guides). The "Fat Thursday Deals" were a success and during the "Show & Shine Night" on Friday Simone Bokma, 46 year old company director and keen street and off-raod motorcycle rider, was elected "Female Rider of the Year" whereas the "Custom Bike Contest" went to Gert Ollie whose "Le Baron" motorcycle topped the competition.
The MOTORbeurs also marked the opening of the 2010 motorcycle season in The Netherlands. .
