The Fédération Internationale de Motocyclisme (FIM) proudly celebrates one year as a signatory of the Sport for Nature Framework, reaffirming its commitment to accelerating biodiversity protection and integrating sustainability into all aspects of motorcycling.
Over the past decade, the FIM has strengthened its sustainability strategy through key initiatives, including:
• The creation of a dedicated Biodiversity Working Group focused on conservation efforts.
• The continuous evolution of its Environmental Code - first established in 1994 - to incorporate new regulations and best practices aimed to protect nature.
• The active involvement of FIM Sustainability Ambassadors, spreading positive messages on nature protection.
• Participation in the Sport for Nature calendar, reinforcing engagement in global sustainability efforts.
In its most recent milestone, the FIM Board of Directors has unanimously approved the incorporation of the four principles of the Sport for Nature Framework into the FIM Environmental Code, further embedding sustainability into governance and regulatory policies.
Commitment to Sport for Nature framework
As a signatory, the FIM is dedicated to integrating these principles within its regulations, encouraging its members and stakeholders to align their objectives with the framework’s goals. This ensures concrete actions that minimise negative impacts, protect biodiversity, and accelerate positive change within the motorcycle sports ecosystem.
In celebration of this commitment, the FIM proudly joins the Sport for Nature campaign under the theme: "It’s in our nature." A campaign that was initiated yesterday in the framework of World Environment Day and will also celebrate 23 June Olympic Day. This campaign reflects the deep connection between motorcycling and nature, emphasising the federation’s responsibility to reduce environmental impact, protect ecosystems, and promote sustainable development.
