Sport can be a great driver of equality and inclusion, showcasing athletes and sportspeople from all walks of life excelling at various levels of motorcycling. As leaders, communicators and content creators in sport, we are in a unique position to set the tone and help change the conversation and defy negative stereotypes.
The Guidelines are intended to raise awareness of what constitutes gender bias across the various aspects of portrayal within the sporting context, and how this can be overcome to ensure that our content and communications are more inclusive, balanced and representative of the world that we live in.
Janika Judeika, the FIM Women in Motorcycling Commission Director explained: "This tool has been developed for the institution and the FIM National Affiliated Federations to ultimately increase female participation in all sporting and non-sporting activities, in a structured consultative process with the FIM Administration, Commissions, FMNs and athletes, in line with the IOC guidelines.
The FIM is committed to making motorcycling an open, inclusive and benevolent environment for all. We are also making every effort to improve cooperation and communication with motorcycling stakeholders in order to develop the sport and activities for women.
We believe that this will be an opportunity to deliver our message to a wider audience and show girls and women that they are supported by an extraordinary community of people! This is only possible through the active collaboration and participation of numerous stakeholders."
