FIM Land Speed World Records Launches New Site

Nearly all forms of two-wheel competition begin with the thrill of twisting a throttle and the excitement of sheer speed. This most basic instinct of racing is the heart and soul of FIM Land Speed World Records, seeking to push limits, drive ingenuity and explore uncharted territory on a motorcycle. In the spirit of this exclusive form of competition, and on account of its recent growth and popularity, FIM is proud to reveal an all-new dedicated website for FIM Land Speed World Records.

The all-new website is where you can find news, calendars and information on FIM Land Speed World Records events, as well as photo galleries and race reports from past events such as the Bonneville Motorcycle Speed Trials (BMST) in Utah’s Bonneville Salt Flats, the Bolivia Speed Trials held at the Salar de Uyuni in South America, the largest salt flat in the world, or the World Speed Trials in Lausitzring, Germany. You will also find information on FIM Land Speed World Records competition, how classes are categorized, as well as information on how you can compete.

Finally, you will also find the prestigious FIM Land Speed World Records themselves—find out who holds the world championship in every class, what they were riding and what speeds they reached. Whether it’s 50cc or 5000cc, gas-powered, nitrous-powered, supercharged, turbocharged or electrically charged, every FIM Land Speed World Record racer has a journey and a story, even before they reach the timed mile. The all-new FIM-Landspeed-Worldrecords.com website offers an inside look into this classic and distinctive form of racing.

“When you race for an FIM Land Speed World Record, you’re not competing against the person next to you; you’re competing against everyone in history,” said FIM Land Speed World Records Technical Director Dominique Hébrard. “And once an FIM Land Speed World Record is earned, there is no guarantee how long it will stand. It may be a matter of hours, or it could stand for years. This is all part of what makes this sport so unique and exciting, and we are glad to have a dedicated site for our competitors and fans.”
