FIM Honours Slovak Motorcycling Excellence at SMF Awards and Hall of Fame Inauguration

The Fédération Internationale de Motocyclisme (FIM) proudly participated in the Slovakia Motorcycle Federation Awards, held on Saturday 17 January 2026, at the Púchov Theatre in Slovakia.

The ceremony, attended by riders, officials, partners and members of the motorcycling community, celebrated the achievements of Slovak riders and teams from the past season, while also marking a historic milestone with the official inauguration of the Hall of Fame of Motorcycle Sport in Slovakia.

FIM President Jorge Viegasaddressed the audience, congratulating the award recipients and underlining the importance of preserving the sport’s heritage while continuing to invest in youth development, safety, and the promotion of motorcycling values.

A highlight of the evening was the induction of the first two members of the newly established Hall of Fame. Peter Baláž, who has recently celebrated his eightieth birthday, was honoured for a lifetime of dedication to Slovak motorcycling and his long-standing contribution to the development of the sport across generations.

Seventy-year-old Emil Čunderlík, ISDE World Champion in 1982, was recognised for achieving one of the most significant international successes in Slovak motorcycling history. Still active as an Enduro rider, he continues to exemplify passion, excellence and commitment to the sport.

The FIM would like to congratulate all the award recipients and the two Hall of Fame inductees and commends the Slovak Motorcycle Federation for its continued leadership in promoting motorcycling, upholding safety standards, and strengthening the sport at both national and international level.
