The third day of the FIM Europe Congress at the Sheraton Hotel in Zagreb included Sporting Council and Management Council meetings. The highlight of the five-day event, the General Assembly, was also held today in the presence of FIM President Jorge Viegas, FIM CEO Tony Skillington and other management representatives as well as several FIM commission directors.
The General Assembly in the presence of 39 out of 46 national federations elected acting presidentt Martin De Graaff from Netherlands as the new FIM Europe President. Manuel Marinheiro from Portugal was elected as Vice-President for the next four year period.
As usual the European Federations unanimously approved 2018 accounts and 2019 budget, which shows a lot of ambition for the future. The sporting and non-sporting programmes were presented and approved. The FIM and FIM Europe will stay united as in the past few years.
FIM President Jorge Viegas:
"I want to congratulate the new FIM Europe President Martin De Graaff. I am sure with him we will have a good future ahead of us. All in all, we had a nice and progressive time here in beautiful Zagreb. I have seen how everything has developed since the story of FIM Europe started in Munich in 1995 when we established the UEM (now FIM Europe). I am really happy with many new developments including that FIM Europe will move to the new building in Rome – the future of the FIM Europe looks very good. I also want to highlight that there is no FIM and FIM Europe, we are all the same with the same federations. That was the reason the management of the FIM wanted to be present here to show that we all work together for the same goal."
