At the invitation of the Polski Zwiazek Motorowy (PZM), the FIM Board of Directors met in Warsaw (Poland) on Friday 17 May.
After the opening address by FIM President Jorge Viegas, the FIM Strategic Plan, Finance and Governance Committees, which had met the previous day, and the FIM Awards & Recognition Committee, which met recently in Pietramurata (Italy), presented their reports and recommendations to the Board.
The Board then addressed a number of topical issues in the area of sport, notably the creation of an E-bike commission, which was approved in principle, recent developments in Enduro (notably the WESS) and the latest situation regarding the MotoE World Cup following the devastating fire in the paddock earlier this year.
The Board heard updates on various ongoing disciplinary and doping cases, major contracts, the insurance programme and affiliations. A proposal to harmonise protocol at FIM World Championship Events was approved. The principles for the creation of an FIM Foundation were also approved.
The CONU Presidents then reported to the Board on the latest developments on their continents.
The Board approved the 2018 Audited Financial Statements and took note of the 2019 financial forecast. Revised direct payments were decided on by the Board for 2020.
For the FIM Moto3TM Junior World Championship, the Board agreed that the prize awarded to the winner be renamed the “Juan Moreta Trophy” in memory of late FIM Vice-President and recipient of the FIM Nicolas Rodil del Valle Medal.
A number of proposals for amendments to the FIM’s governing documents, notably some proposed amendments to the FIM Sporting Code, were presented by the Governance Committee chaired by FIM Vice President Mr Jacques Bolle and approved by the Board for submission to the FIM General Assembly in Monaco in November.
Proposed amendments to the FIM Financial Regulations and FIM Medical Code were approved by the Board as well as some important changes to the FIM Judicial system.
The Board decided to bring a case before the FIM Ethical Chamber, related to the events occurred on the
final of the SuperEnduro World Championship in Bilbao.
The FIM Commercial & Marketing and Communication Departments gave updates on their recent activities and ongoing projects.
The following adjustments were made to the composition of the Commissions. The Board appointed the following new expert and members:

In addition, the Board ratified the resignation of Dr Andreas JUSKO (AMF) from the CMI.
The meeting was followed by a dinner organised by the PZM in honour of its former President and former FIM Vice-President Mr Andrzej Witkowski, who recently celebrated his 70th birthday.
On the evening of Saturday 18 May, the FIM Board members, the FIM staff members present and other guests of the PZM attended the Grand Prix of Poland counting towards the FIM Speedway World Championship at the legendary Warsaw National Stadium.
