Currently seventh in the championship standings after the opening three rounds of the 2016 FIM Trial World Championship Jeroni Fajardo – Vertigo will be looking to improve both his performance and his overall position as he plots his attack for today’s opening encounter in Andorra. Ranked third in the final standings last season Fajardo’s best results to date in 2016 are three fifth places, these coming in Spain, Japan and Germany. This is some contrast to the ten podium spots he secured last year which included two runners up berths.
The good news for Jeroni is that Andorra has great memories for the now thirty-one-year old with this being the scene of his one and only ever GP win back in 2009. In addition to his single victory in the small principality Fajardo has always recorded three further podium results at this notoriously tough venue. Moreover, Jeroni will be looking to reverse his recent fortunes as he looks to regain the advantage that he previously held over his Vertigo teammate James Dabill early in the season.
Dabill’s two podium places this season to date, the second of these coming last time out in Germany have seen the British rider move level on points with Fajardo in the title race and go one place higher than him in the current rankings thanks to his better placing on day two in Gefrees.
With this very much in mind, Jeroni’s motivation is sure to be at an all-time high as today’s Trial gets underway.
