The Thuringer circuit Schleizer Dreieck, south of Leipzig is host of the second round of the FIM e Power Championship. Matthias Himmelmann (Munch Racing) controlled the two qualifying sessions which were held in sunny and warm conditions on a circuit surrounded with springtime colours. In perfect weather conditions, Alessandro Branetti (CRP Racing) experienced some motor problems which the team resolved in time for the last practice session, enabling him to set the second fastest time of the small grid of participants. Fellow Munch Team riders, Thomas Mertens and Alex Scholz, both having their initial experience on electric powered motorcycles, were both able to set respectable times and qualified well within the fastest time from Himmelmann, only 12 and 15 seconds behind the leader. The race promises to be a new experience, running on a new fast and flowing circuit.
