Andrea Dovizioso was a relieved man after steering his Repsol Honda to victory in the British Grand Prix at Donington Park.
Dovizioso recorded his first ever win in the FIM MotoGP World Championship after Fiat Yamaha duo Jorge Lorenzo and Valentino Rossi both crashed in the cold and wet conditions and the Repsol Honda rider was delighted.
He said: "The temperature was very low and the conditions were very dangerous.
"When I was following Valentino I was happy as he is the best so I was watching him to learn how far we could push the bike. But then he found the limit and crashed.
"I was very scared when he crashed out so I was being cautious until I saw that Colin Edwards was catching me.
"I then tried to push at the end but it was too risky.
"But I have won a race in the best category against the best riders in the world and it is very emotional.
"Now the challenge for me is to beat them in the dry. Hopefully I can win again before the end of the season but we will have to see."
