Day 1 - 2016 ISDE is go!

After many months of anticipation finally the 2016 FIM International Six Days Enduro (ISDE) is underway in Navarra, Spain. Under clear skies, but in chilly conditions the first of the over five hundred riders rolled off the starting ramp that was situated on the main straight of the tarmac circuit that is normally more suited to motorcycles wearing less treaded tyres.

Australia’s Lachlan Stanford – Husqvarna, Manuel Moni – TM from Italy and Germany’s Tilman Rause – KTM had the honour of getting the starting process kicked off at 8.15hrs. The original start time of 8.00hrs had to be pushed back slightly to allow for the sun to appear over the hill that edges the paddock, in order to give the required light levels to get the race started in safe conditions.

Today the riders face a long day in the saddle with the two laps of the lower local areas creating a total distance of just over three hundred kilometres. The three dry and dusty tests will be ridden twice including the one located close to the paddock that will bring to a close the action at the end of each lap. With a time-allowance of just short of eight hours the last riders will need to keep on schedule if they are to reach the parc ferme before the sun goes down.

So with the riders now out on the course, the first big question of the week is - who will be top of the results come the close of day one?
