Experience counts for a lot at the FIM International Six Days Enduro (ISDE), but for some getting the call-up from their national federation means they take to the start of the event a little unsure of exactly what to expect. For Italian World Trophy team rider Davide Guarneri the ninetieth ISDE is his first ever enduro.
As a seasoned MXGP racer Guarneri is anything but new to international motorcycle racing. But when it comes to enduro sport he is learning, and learning fast. “It’s so different to motocross. At the end of the day I don't feel so bad, not like I do after a day of GP motocross, but it’s the next morning I feel it. It’s a different kind of tough. I’m getting a lot of advice and help from the Italian team, I’m learning every day.”
“The motocross special tests are not real motocross tests – they are fields and forests mixed together. I’m fine until I get in the trees, then I know I’m not fast enough. Half way through the race and I have managed all the tyre changing ok, but I crashed and hurt my leg on day three.”
After three days of competition – and with the day six final motocross races still to come – Davide currently sits eighth in the Enduro 3 class, his best result coming on day two when he finished fifth.
