Casales, a new champion is crowned

<meta http-equiv="content-type" content="text/html; charset=utf-8" />Eighteen year old Jorge Casales is the winner of the 2013 FIM Junior Trial World Cup. In accomplishing this achievement Casales becomes the fifth Spanish rider to do so since he class was first introduced back in 2000. The initial campaign thirteen years ago saw Adam Raga – Gas Gas become the first recipient of this prize, before Jose Maria Juan – Sherco repeated the feat in 2004. Daniel Gilbert – Montesa continued Spain’s winning tradition in this category in 2006 before Alfredo Gomez – Montesa broke the long wait for another Spanish victor in 2011.

Casales finished fifth in his debut season in the Junior class last year and made an immediate impact on the series as he finished in eighth place at his maiden Grand Prix in France. However it was later in the season that Jorge came to real prominence when he claimed his first podium finish at his home GP. He was to follow this up with three runners-up placings in the closing part of 2012 to confirm himself as a main contender for the 2013 Junior crown.

A win on the opening day at round one in Japan got his 2013 season underway in perfect style before he was forced to play second fiddle to Jack Sheppard – Beta until round three. From that point forward Casales never looked back despite a late charge from his compatriot Pol Tarres – Sherco, and is more than a worthy winner of the 2013 FIM Junior Trial World Cup.
