Can Cabestany bounce back?

Last season the Trial GP of Andorra proved to be a relatively happy hunting ground for Albert Cabestany – Sherco as he placed 4-3 respectively over the two days of competition in the mountainous principality. The question twelve months on as the 2016 FIM Trial World Championship is set to return to Andorra tomorrow for the fourth round of the current series is, can Cabestany repeat the same kind of results this time around having suffered his worst GP finish for over a decade during his last outing in Germany.

Albert’s eleventh place on the second day in Gefrees, which came just twenty-four hours after he had been on the podium, represented his lowest placing since Spain in 2002 which amazingly was the last time he finished outside of the top ten at a Trial GP. Whilst his absolute consistency has plighted Cabestany’s ability to mount a real title threat over a number of years, equally Albert has proved himself to be pretty much an eternal top five finisher. A seventh spot in Spain in 2012 and a ninth place at the Italian GP back in 2005 being amongst a very limited history of below par performances for the now thirty-five-year old veteran campaigner.

Having now lost third position in the general standings to his equally experienced rival Takahisa Fujinami – Repsol Honda after his poor showing in Gefrees, Cabestany will be eager to hit back immediately when the action gets underway in Andorra tomorrow morning.
