Bou will not fight for the victory

Defending FIM Trial World Champion Toni Bou – Repsol Honda has admitted that he will not be able to fight for the victory as the 2016 series gets underway in Cal Rosal, Spain today. Bou sustained an injury to his right shoulder during training just over a week ago and therefore has not been able to ride since. Yesterday he made a small test to check his current condition and as a result of which he now knows that he can only compete for the lower placings.

“The tendon in my shoulder is completely broken and this means that the rotator cuff is not controlling the bicep muscle and when this goes out I lose all the strength in my arm. After twenty minutes it can recover, but during the Trial there is no time for this situation. My plan is to try to take points on both days here in Spain, and then I will have some more time to be ready for Japan. After these first two GPs I will then need to decide if I will have an operation or not. During the last nine years I have been lucky with my injuries, some small things but nothing like this time.”
