Ben Barker has revealed a lofty double ambition for 2009 after a promising start to the Elite League season.
The Coventry teamster is setting his sights on riding for Great Britain in the FIM Speedway World Cup in July, and wants to appear in the FIM World Championship Grand Prix round at Cardiff's Millennium Stadium in June.
Cornishman Barker contests the British U21 Final at Lakeside on April 24, with the aim of qualifying for the British Final at Poole - and then the British Grand Prix.
The 21-year-old, who is also contracted Polish club Wroclaw, said: "I want to be a Grand Prix rider. That is my ultimate aim.
"We (Great Britain) have a lot of good, young riders, and I'd love to be in the World Cup squad. That would be a massive boost for me.
"I know the other guys will feel the same way, so it should be a good meeting at Lakeside. I want to put in a good performance in the British Final, too. A place at Cardiff is available, so I'll be going for it."
