Austria is go

Located approximately sixty kilometres to the south of the capital city of Vienna, tonight the slightly less known Austrian town of Wiener Neustadt will have the honour of hosting the third stop on the 2016 FIM X-Trial World Championship. Packed inside the compact Nova arena that sits on the outskirts of the town are six sections plus one double race over which the seven fixed riders plus wild card entrant will do battle. Running in reverse order of the current championship standings all eight riders will attempt the hazards as part of their pairing during qualification that will ultimately determine which four protagonists make it through to the final.

The action will open on the rocky first section before the riders then attempt the jumble of huge logs that make up section two. From the natural opening materials the course then switches to the opposite side of the arena to take in the third and fourth hazards. These both comprise of concrete forms, the first containing an array of red almost Lego like blocks whilst the latter, which may prove the easiest test of the event, is a series of white tube and hollow blocks. The remaining two sections both feature some exceptional wood work craftsmanship, with the final hazard taking the riders several metres above the arena floor. Last but not least the double lane race that runs through the centre of the arena looks like it is going to be fast and furious, so everything is in place for another great competition.
