It has been a tough week for the Australian World and Junior Trophy teams at this year’s FIM International Six Day Enduro (ISDE), but whilst the Aussies’ assault on the main team awards is over, individually their riders are far from being down.
In the World Trophy class Australia have been reduced to just three riders from the six who started the week. Daniel Milner - Yamaha went out on day one when he crashed and dislocated his finger, with Jarrod Bewley – Husqvarna and Joshua Green - Yamaha then forced to retire on day three with mechanical problems.
However whilst for the team it has been a disaster in San Juan, Argentina the remaining Australian riders Toby Price - KTM, Matthew Phillips – KTM and Joshua Strang – Yamaha are flying the Aussie flag high with all three placed in the top five of the individual classification, with just two days to go.
Price who missed most of last season with a broken neck remains second overall behind France’s Pierre-Alexandre Renet – Husqvarna and also holds the top spot in the progressive Enduro 3 standings. Just one place behind Price, current FIM Enduro 3 World Champion Philips sits in third spot in the scratch results and is runner up to Renet in the Enduro 2 category thus far. Strang rounds out the top five overall at this stage and occupies fourth in the E2 standings.
Australia are currently sixth in the World Trophy class and fourth in the Junior Trophy classification, with an outside chance of a podium place in the latter of these categories heading into the fifth and penultimate day of this year’s ISDE in South America.
