Japan's Hiroshi Aoyama won Saturday's FIM 250cc World Championship race at Assen and claimed top spot in the overall standings despite a late crash with Spain's Alvaro Bautista.
The pair collided midway through the penultimate lap, Bautista catapulted into the air after his Aprilia struck the back of Aoyama's Honda.
Aoyama managed to stay on his bike and held on to triumph ahead of Spain's Hector Barbera (Aprilia) and Italy's Marco Simoncelli (Gilera).
Bautista's misery was compounded by losing top spot in the overall standings to Aoyama.
