It is with great sadness that we have learned that French Endurance Rider Anthony Delhalle was the victim of a crash this morning on the Nogaro circuit, where several teams were testing.
Despite the best efforts of the medical rescue team, the 35 year old Anthony succumbed to his injuries.
Anthony signed his first contract with Dominique Méliand’s Suzuki Endurance Racing Team in 2011. When he joined the SERT, Anthony was no novice. He had been defending the company’s colours on the world’s circuits for no less than ten years!
For six years, he learned the ropes in the France Open and Promosport championships before joining the famous Junior Team Suzuki, winning three 24 hours races with them in 2006 and 2007.
For three years, from 2008 to 2010, he honed his career with the Qatar Endurance Racing Team, winning three Stock World Championship titles. At that time, he even put in a few stints in the FIM Grand Prix World Championship aboard a Moto2. So when he joined the SERT, he was already an experienced competitor, having won his spurs on the famous GSX-R.
The 2016 win made five world titles, all with the SERT, bringing his career total to eight, all won on a Suzuki, making him a fine ambassador for the factory based in Hamamatsu.
On behalf of the motorcycle community, the FIM extends its deepest condolences to the family, friends and team of Anthony Delhalle. He will be sorely missed.
