Another double victory for Hermunen


The sun came up today to greet the S1 riders for their first race at the Circuit of Vairano. The crowd participating at SMGP of Europe enjoyed a fantastic racing in both classes and saw Mauno Hermun adding one more victory in  records, together with the comeback of Vermeulen.

Shr TM Mauno Hermunen confirms his leadership also in this second SM Grand Prix; a beautiful 2013 Supermoto season start for the Finnish rider who, in spite of the bad luck of the last year, won both the heaths another time. Mauno took the holeshot in race 1 but after some laps, Thomas Chareyre overtook him and, at the seventh lap, Hermunen reconfirmed his authority; towards the end he made a mistake but, instead of losing focus on his bike, he kept his first position and grew the gap; moreover in race two, he also battled a lot with his brand-mate TM rider, changing position with him several times but, from the ninth lap, he came faster from behind, winning the SMGP of Europe.

Second step of the podium for TM Racing Factory Team Thomas Chareyre who, despite his start as first in the row this morning, did not have a good start, but he easily overtook Bydart and his brother, also managing to overtook the strong Hermunen; he kept the first position for two laps but  some dirt entered in his tyres during the off road part and he settled down with a second position. In race 2 the French rider had a very good start, battling with Mauno all the time, keeping the first position for several laps but, towards the end,  the Finnish reconfirmed his authority. However, the defending Champion and Mauno were the main riders of this week-end in Vairano with some gaps compared to the other riders.

Good return on the podium for APRILIA Fast Wheels Adrien Chareyre, who had two consistent races today. The former Champion found the correct setting with his bike this week-end and admitted that he has to work more to catch the two strong TM riders but, in spite of this, he is satisfied and he liked this fast circuit very much.

Fourth position for the French HONDA Luc1 Owatrol Sylvain Bydart, who battled with his countryman Adrien for both heats to achieve the last step of the rostrum. Today, thanks to the sunny weather, it was also added the off road part and the French proved his ability on this field and he admitted, as well as the other riders, that the preparation was perfect.

The home rider HONDA L30 Racing Ivan Lazzarini gained some positions in both heaths and finished fifth, moving up YAMAHA Team Blot Aurelien Grelier who had a solid race in the first heath but lost some position in race two; however, the French rider is very satisfied because this was his first race in FIM Supermoto World Championship and his team manager Michael Quoy is glad for having made the correct choice and for having changed him with Stephan Blot  for this S1 season. 

SHR TM Petr Vorlicek had two consistent races and finished in seventh position, followed by HONDA Hm Racing Christian Ravaglia and by another Italian rider,SUZUKI Valenti Bikers Racing Team Andrea Occhini, who improved from yesterday, enjoying a lot with his bike this week-end; the top ten was closed by the Swedish YAMAHA Team Carlbark Motor Henrik Karlsson, who improved his result from Capua.
